Red’s Retro & Vintage is a side project I started in 2023. I started it as a way to save beautiful treasures from the past and find new homes for them.
I called my business Red’s Retro & Vintage because the name Red has always been something I identified with as a redhead. I added Retro to the name because I thought it sounded nice with the double R’s and described an aspect of the business. I added vintage as well as another descriptive word.
The Inspiration
When creating this brand, I wanted to develop a modern, clean visual identity that still felt influenced by vintage design. One of my biggest inspirations was classic Mid-Century Modern graphic patterns.
I was drawn to their bold color palettes, playful geometric shapes, and repetition. I also liked how instantly recognizable they are as vintage, even to people without a background in design, making them a strong visual reference point for the brand.
The Logo
The “R” of my logo was formed with shapes from my retro pattern inspiration. I paired it with a clean, modern font and used the shape from the top of the “R” as the apostrophe in Red’s.
I use Instagram and Facebook as a way to document, share and sell my vintage finds. I photograph my finds as flat lays, styled vignettes, and short-form videos.
Instagram also acts as a portfolio for entering vintage markets. and it gives my customers a platform to follow me on and keep up with upcoming events.
Social Media
I primarily share and sell my vintage collection at local vintage markets. I’m highly selective about the pieces I source, ensuring that my collection feels thoughtfully curated and reflects a unqiue aesthetic. My favorite part is bringing all of those finds together to create a space people can step into, explore, and connect with—often discovering several pieces they love because the overall aesthetic speaks to their personal style.
I created these signs for customers to scan so they can easily follow me on instagram and access my venmo for payment.
